The base is 1960s and 70s brick homes on standard blocks, but the corridor along Pennant Hills Road and around the old rail line has filled with apartment buildings over the past decade, and the two housing types produce completely different call-outs.
In the older houses, it’s the familiar 1970s list — galvanised supply on its last legs, clay sewer with roots, and original waste pipework that surprises people mid-renovation. In the apartments, it’s pressure and shared services: buildings tall enough to need booster pumps, pressure-limiting valves that fail and either starve or hammer the fixtures above them, and common drainage lines where one blockage becomes several units’ problem at once.
